Suhaib Webb is a contemporary American-Muslim educator, activist, and lecturer. His work bridges classical and contemporary Islamic thought, addressing issues of cultural, social and political relevance to Muslims in the West. After converting to Islam in 1992, Webb left his career in the music industry to pursue his passion in education. He earned a Bachelor’s in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and received intensive private training in the Islamic Sciences under a renowned Muslim Scholar of Senegalese descent. Webb was hired as the Imam at the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City, where he gave khutbas (sermons), taught religious classes, and provided counselling to families and young people; he also served as an Imam and resident scholar in communities across the U.S.
From 2004-2010, Suhaib Webb studied at the world’s preeminent Islamic institution of learning, Al-Azhar University, in the College of Shari`ah. During this time, after several years of studying the Arabic Language and the Islamic legal tradition, he also served as the head of the English Translation Department at Dar al-Ifta al-Misriyyah.
Outside of his studies at Al-Azhar, Suhaib Webb completed the memorization of the Quran in the city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia. He has been granted numerous traditional teaching licenses (ijazat), adhering to centuries-old Islamic scholarly practice of ensuring the highest standards of scholarship. Webb was named one of the 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center in 2010.
Salams Imam Suhaib,
Jazakallahu Khairan for posting this up. I just tried calling and the number up there is for the wrong prison; the correct number to the ADX Florence Supermax security prison is (719)784-9464. I highly encourage everyone to call that number preferably during their business hours to speak to the Warden’s secretary directly and complain about whats going on with Imam Jamil.
InshAllah All is going well with you Sheikh.
Keep us in your Dua
Allah yaftah lahu wa yasir umorahu kulaha
I have called also and you will need Imam Jamil’s immate number 99974-555, they will try to route you to the Imam’s counselor Richard Madison, but respectfully ask to speak to the warden Ron Wiley
A small but apt joke:
A black man and Muslim are sitting in the back of a police car. The black man says: “A black man can’t get a fair trial nowadays!” The Muslim looks at him incredulously: “You get a trial!?”
Unfortunately, Imam Al-Amin is both a black man and a Muslim, and therefore stood no chance. May Allah [swt] overturn the verdict on the Day of Judgment, and shove the Dhalimoon and Tawagheet–who sent Imam al-Amin to the hole–to the deepest hole and abyss of hell-fire, whose fuel is men and stones!
Does any one have knowledge about Imam Jamil’s appeal?
Was anyone able to get in touch with the Imam or the warden?
Assalaam,
May Allah reward all your efforts for putting forth this valant effort to give out brother a just trial. May Allah give him and all the wrongfully imprisoned Muslims Nasr Azeez-“A great victory”!!!
This brings tears to my eyes. Pleas contact CAIR. They will be of great help insh'Allah. Cair NY # is: (212) 870-2002.
May Allah brings His Mercy on Imam Jamil and makes it easy for him. Amin
As-salaamu alaikum wa Ramatullahi wa Barakatahu! Ramadan Mubarak! Insha-Allah I have been in correspondence with the Imam these past three years. He sends his salaam’s to the Ummaah of followers of Allah (Subhanaah wa ta’ Allah). He respectfully requests that all write the warden as well as Attorney General Eric Holder as to the miss direction of his mail and the refusal of ADMAX to allow his phone privileges. I am the director of the Forgotten Imam writing campaign and we would like all to bring up in discussions and panels, “Why have we not and what is being done to seek the release and keep in the forefront our beloved-ed Imam and Brother…dare we not forget him”. Jazaak Allah Khair. Wa-salaa, Allah’s Slave.
