Qur'an

Your Daily Dose: 6th Juz

My sheikh told me, “Umar (ra) used to say, ‘Teach men the fifth chapter of the Qur’an.” Any thoughts why?

A juz is a part of the Qur’an. The Qur’an is divided into 30 parts (juz). The 6th juz of the Qur’an is from 4:1485:81.

  • I think it is because of the impact the chapter has in our daily lives. The chapter has many social and family laws embedded in it and as such, these are the laws we Muslims need to be knowledgeable in so that we may effectively implement them.

  • I would love to know why ?

Does it have anything to do with the fact that Omar Ra also cried when the Ayah I have perfected your religion for you was revealed and when the prophet SAW asked him why he cried he said ” what made me cry is that our religion has been perfected for us and its now perfect.

    I am just guessing

  • This is a chapter of da’wah to “The People of the Book”, for sure! It outlines God’s message to them, and to us regarding how to interact with them. Perhaps – and Allah knows best – this is why Umar stressed learning this Surah. It provides education for the Muslim so that he does not become confused when approached by missionary workers, and gives him the tools he needs to convey Islam in a context they can relate to. This would have been very relevant knowledge for the early Muslims as Islam came into more frequent contact with predominately Christian nations.

  • It`s because it deals with mainly halaal and haraam issues .Maida clearly mentions what is halaal to eat and what is haraam to eat ,how to hunt etc. This is the surah where “o the people who beleive “is mentioned many times.Plz correct me if I am wrong yah shaykh..
